Here she is! Your all-in-one farmhouse, boho, vintage, and modern-ish place to shop in York County, PA. Don’t worry, we have BIG plans for this little place. Well, I have big plans… until Jeff brings me back to reality. 😉 But I promise you it’s going to be pretty. Like lots of black and white, old tin roofing, vintage counter, barn doors, warehouse lights, and shiplap kind of pretty.
We plan to open early April. We have some work to do, but I have no doubt we’ll be ready to go. I’ve been spending so much time getting merchandise together for the online shop; working with local artists and collaborating with my favorite makers and creators, but this place will have my heart. I can’t wait to stock the shelves of this shop with even more beautiful things for the home. We’ve already started demo, and what fun would it be if I didn’t share the process along the way?!
The inside is actually in pretty good condition considering how old the building is. Part of the attic is coming down and the high ceilings will really make the shop feel open. The garage door is also leaving and that will give me a lot of wall space.
We plan to shiplap the walls, but I kind of like these two walls of shingles; which were obviously the exterior of the building at one point. This barn used to be an ice house for the Appell family who built the estate that it sits on. It later became a taxidermy shop and eventually just a building used for storage.
There’s a separate room in the shop which I think we’re going to leave. Jeff had the idea of making it a “vintage room,” or a room that offers figurative space for certain décor.
Can you say accent wall?! Not that it matters much, because the walls will be covered up with shelving and pretty things, but that old wood gets me! There’s also a really cool door that I WILL be leaving in the shop (I posted a photo on Instagram). I can’t wait to get to work on what I know will be my favorite renovation so far!
